XihuDistrict is an urban district in the provincial capital of Zhejiang.The West Lake has given her not only the fame but also the prosperity.The First Emperor of Qin established Qiantang County in 222 B.C. anddesignated the center at the foot of Lingyin Mountain of Xihu District.That was the earliest county-level administration center of Hangzhou.There are numerous beautiful natural landscapes in Xihu District,including the two national 5A-level scenic spots – the West Lake and theXixi Wetland, Zhijiang National Tourist Holiday Resort, Xishan NationalForest Park, Song Dynasty City, Lingshan Cave and other famous scenicspots.
Present Xihu District has the largest area and population amongthe five old urban districts of Hangzhou. It ranks 14 on thecomprehensive strength list of the top 100 districts of China in 2015.
For many years, we have been pursuing the goal of optimizingthe industrial layout of “one belt, two areas, six towns and multipleparks”, improving “1+6” modern industrial system, buildingcharacteristic town cluster and enhancing the integrated development ofinformation economy, high and new technology, commercial real estateeconomy, financial stock rights and urban agriculture, so as to improvethe comprehensive strength, characteristic industries and developmentquality and effect of Xihu District. Here we have famous internetenterprises such as Alibaba, Baidu, Tencent and Intel. We endeavor tobuild a batch of characteristic towns such as Cloud Town, Longwu TeaTown, Xixi Valley Internet Finance Town, Cloud Valley, Cloud Computingand Big Data Town, Zijin Group Innovation Town and Artistic InnovationTown. On the basis of Zhuantang Sci-Tech Economic Park, Cloud Town hastransformed from an industry-centered town to a rapidly developingnew-generation IT industry town based on cloud computing with thesupports of Alibaba and Wasu Group. Longwu Tea Industrial Town aims toenhance the integrated development of tea industry, tea culture andrural tourism. With the support of Zhejiang University, Zijin GroupInnovation Town takes advantages of talents to lead the innovation anddevelopment and realizes the integration among different campuses. Withthe supports of China Academy of Art and Zhejiang Conservatory of Music,Artistic Innovation Town focuses on talents cluster, art cluster andtransboundary cluster.
Xihu District has profound humanistic connotations. Here wehave hundreds of colleges and institutions including Zhejiang Universityand China Academy of Art, 46 academicians of the Chinese Academy ofSciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering and 31 R&D and techniquecenters at or above provincial level.
