“Thebeauty of Fuchun captivates the world and the time.” Fuyang, namedFuchun in ancient times, was established as county in BC221 andtransformed from county to city in 1994. Now, it has been transformedinto a district in 2015 as the youngest “ninth district” of Hangzhou. This is a landscape city. Inspired by the elegant Fuchun scenery,a famous artist in the Yuan Dynasty, drew his masterpiece Dwelling inthe Fuchun Mountains. Nowadays, in order to practice the “Theory of TwoMountains” raised by the General Secretary XI, Fuyang has strengthenedthe enforcement of environmental improvement, spares no effort to carryout “A Total of Five Water Treatment”, “Renovation of Old ResidentialAreas, Plant Areas and Villages in the City and Demolition of IllegalConstruction”, “Neatness, Virescence and Beautification of the Sides ofthe Roads, Railways, Rivers and Mountains” and the “Two Sides of theRoads and the Railways” projects, so as to build Fuyang into a “newscroll painting of Dwelling in the Fuchun Mountains” which possesseshistorical inheritance, natural beauty and modern features.
Establishing “No black GDP in beautiful Fuyang” as the principle,Fuyang has integrated and closed the paper-making industry which werelied for existence in the past. Although this lowers the GDP growth,the water quality of Fuchun River has been improved from “unqualified”to “excellent”. Besides, Fuyang adheres the theory of “Possessing the beauty ofthe countryside and the convenience of the city at the same time” toenhance the comprehensive construction of “beautiful countryside” with“the taste of Zhejiang” and remodel the beauty and life of thecountryside.
This is also a “smart city”. Next to the main urban area ofHangzhou, Fuyang takes the advantage of “transforming city intodistrict” to enter the “fast lane” of “smart economy”. The “SiliconValley Town” of Fuyang has been included on the list of the first batchof 37 province-level featured towns. The “Silicon Valley Town” covers anarea of 3.8km2. Although it is not a large town, key industries such asoptical communication, information technology, industrial design andcultural and creative industry have made it the “engine” of thedevelopment of Fuyang’s smart economy. At present, the “Silicon ValleyTown” has successfully introduced many smart industry heavyweights suchas the China Smart Sports Industrial Base, Tian’an • Fuchun SiliconValley, Insigma, Silver Lake Innovation Center, iValley, SunhooIndustrial Design. The total investment has exceeded 12 billion yuan,showing an unstoppable clustered and concentrated growth momentum ofsmart industry. The G20 Summit will be held in Hangzhou next year. Although notbeing the core area, Fuyang will not be a “bystander”. Instead, Fuyangwill promote its industrial level with all strength, comprehensivelyimprove regional environment and position itself as “smart city withbeautiful landscape and new urban blue sea” to realize thetransformation from “rising industrial area” to “flourishing industrialarea”. Meanwhile, foreign guests will be able to appreciate the beautyof landscape, humanity, city and countryside as well as industries herein Fuyang.
